Hackathon: Second Edition!

Finding breadcrumbs

A hackathon forces competitors to face specific problems and come up with ideas on the spot.

When Haulotte organized its first hackathon in November 2019 and gave teams the chance to put their ideas forward, no one could have imagined the upheaval that the coronavirus pandemic would soon bring. Yet, thanks to the commitment and work of the Digital teams, the tangible results of that first hackathon will be on show when we roll out a new digital product for our customers in early 2023.

Spurred by its original success, Haulotte decided to do it all again and held its second Haulotte Hackathon at H3 on May 19 last.

Students from the Télécom Saint-Étienne digital engineering school and two start-ups (Data & Co and Kaizen Solutions) worked for an entire day on:

“How can the data from our Sherpal tool be better utilized?”

At the end of the day, the teams put forward several possible avenues, which the jury sifted through to find the most promising among them.

=> Goal: Endorse a development project by the end of the year for a subsequent roll out in late 2023 or early 2024

Organizing idea-generating events and speeding up the transformation of ideas into value propositions, these are some of our ambitions for 2022-2025.

This is why we are going to come back to this tool again and again over the period,” Philippe Luminet, Innovation Manager, stated. “The idea is to hold ‘Totem’ events on innovation, such as roundtable talks or hackathons.”
